Reports: Current ADs will serve on College Football Playoff selection committee

Current athletic directors will be part of the selection committee for the four-team College Football Playoff, reports The Sporting News' Matt Hayes.

Hayes' report contradicts previous information on the makeup of the committee. In May, the playoff's executive director, Bill Hancock, had suggested current ADs would likely not be part of the committee when the playoff starts in the 2014 season. SEC athletic directors also said at the time that they had been told current ADs wouldn't be on the committee.

The plans for the committee have apparently changed, though much is still in flux. There is still no set number of members (expected to be between 12 and 20), and other details - such as how often the committee will announce team rankings during the season - are being debated. ESPN's Brett McMurphy reports that it is unlikely weekly rankings will be part of the playoff.

Hayes reports the current plan would have one athletic director from each of the five major conferences sit on the committee. Former coaches and administrators are also expected to be on the committee, and former players could be, too.
