NBA owners are expected to approve the Charlotte Bobcats' name change on Thursday, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

The NBA is holding a Board of Governors meeting on Thursday in Las Vegas, where they are expected to bring the Hornets back to Charlotte.

The original Charlotte Hornets relocated to New Orleans in 2002, but with the New Orleans team deciding to rebrand the franchise using the Pelicans moniker, the door opened for Charlotte to change from the Bobcats to the Hornets.

The Bobcats have started a "Buzz City" advertising campaign on their website along with opening a new website advertising the return of the Hornets to Charlotte. The Bobcats are set to make a "special announcement" later Thursday to formally announce the name change.
