Buffalo Bills release disappointing defensive end Mark Anderson
Just last offseason Anderson, 30, was signed to a four-year, $27.5 million free agent contract to complement the addition of Mario Williams in the team's pass rush. Anderson, who was coming off a 10-sack season with the Patriots in 2011, was a big disappointment in Buffalo with one sack and 10 tackles in just five game, missing the final 11 games due to a knee injury.
Anderson will keep $7.9 million in guaranteed money while the Bills will incur a cap charge of $4.5 million in prorated signing bonus.Buffalo’s new staff, including head coach Doug Marrone and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, were thought to see Anderson as a situational pass rusher, but obviously elected to cut him loose. Defensive ends Jerry Hughes, who was acquired from the Colts this offseason, and Manny Lawson are likely to get more time in camp.
