The Thunder are close to an agreement with free-agent guard Derek Fisher, according to reports.

The Oklahoman reports Fisher is expected to sign a contract for the veteran's minimum of approximately $1.4 million.

While this will be the 17-year veteran's third straight season with the Thunder, it will be the first time he'll be on the roster for the start of a season. His previous two runs with the Thunder were mid-season stints including 20 games in 2011-12 and 24 games last season.

He is expected to be the Thunder's third point guard behind Russell Westbrook and third-year guard Reggie Jackson, but Fisher is considered an experienced leader and locker room presence critical to the team's quest for its first NBA title.

Fisher, 39, is coming off a postseason in which he averaged 8.7 points in 11 playoff games and helped fill the void left by Westbrook's season-ending injury.

Fisher owns five NBA championship rings from his two terms with the Lakers (1996-2004 and 2007-2012) and is five games behind former teammate Robert Horry for most playoff games in NBA history.
