Ohio State suspends RB Carlos Hyde for at least three games

Ohio State has suspended running back Carlos Hyde for at least the first three games of the upcoming season, head coach Urban Meyer announced Tuesday, the suspension stemming from an altercation at a Columbus night club.

Hyde, a senior, will miss home games against Buffalo and San Diego State and a road game at California.

In an interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Meyer said, "Our players are taught to walk away. (Hyde's) punishment was because he didn't walk away...If criminal charges would have been filed, he would have been dismissed from team."

The Columbus Police Department announced Tuesday that Hyde will not face assault charges from an incident that occurred at Sugar Bar 2 earlier this month. Hyde was suspended indefinitely last week pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

Last season, Hyde rushed for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns on 185 attempts as a junior.
