Yankees place Derek Jeter on DL with calf strain

The New York Yankees placed shortstop Derek Jeter on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 3 with a strained right calf, the team announced.
Jeter, 39, missed the first 91 games of the season but he soon returned to the disabled list after he strained his right quadriceps muscle on July 11.
He returned two weeks later but then had pain in his calf.
Jeter has played in just five games this season, with four hits in 19 at-bats (.211) for the Yankees. Jeter said yesterday that this season has not gone well and that he didn't know how this latest injury happened.
“It’s frustrating,” Jeter said after the Yankees lost 6-3 to San Diego. “It’s terrible. The whole season has been a nightmare.”
