USC says recruiting story involving Snoop Dogg and Silas Redd is inaccurate

USC officials said in a statement Tuesday night that a story published saying that running back Silas Redd was picked up on his recruiting visit to the school by rapper Snoop Dogg is inaccurate.

A book about Penn State football called "Fourth and Long: The Fight for the Soul of College Football" by John Bacon said that the multi-platinum selling rapper and head coach Lane Kiffin "pulled out all the stops to score a late-summer roster coup. He got his man, but Redd couldn't save the Trojans from a disappointing season from start to finish."

Redd arrived at USC last year after being allowed to transfer from Penn State after the school was hit with recruiting and bowl sanctions following the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

USC issued the following statement:

"Silas Redd has never met Snoop Dogg, much less received a ride from him in any type of vehicle. USC head coach Lane Kiffin picked up Silas from the airport on his recruiting visit."
