Woman sues Patriots, NFL for $10 million in husband's wrongful death

A woman whose husband died of cardiac arrest in the stands of a New England Patriots game in 2010 filed a civil suit against the team and the National Football League claiming that they are responsible for his death.
The Springfield Republicanreports that Kimberly Chartier of Chicopee, Mass., is suing on behalf of her son Tedy and is seeking at least $10 million alleging the Patriots, the National Football League, and three other parties are responsible for the wrongful death of her husband Jeffrey A. Chartier.
Chartier, 40, died at the Sept. 12, 2010, home opener at Gillette Stadium in front of his 6-year-old son Tedy, and there were reports his death was immediately preceded by an altercation with a security guard.

One of those named in the Hampden Superior Court suit is Arthur Sherman of Cumberland, R.I., who it identifies as that security guard. According to the suit filed in late June, two NFL game officials invited Tedy onto the field before the game started, but Sherman confronted Jeffrey Chartier about Tedy’s presence on the field.
