Buffalo Bills will reportedly sign QB Matt Leinart after workout on Sunday
The Buffalo Bills will sign 30-year-old quarterback Matt Leinart after working him out on Sunday, reports Fox Sports 1's Mike Garafalo.
The news comes on the heels of injuries to Buffalo's top two quarterbacks, first-round pick E.J. Manuel, who is recovering from minor knee surgery, and veteran Kevin Kolb, who suffered a head injury during Saturday's preseason game.
Former Redskins second-round pick John Beck also worked out with the Bills and was expected to work out for the Jets along with Leinart.
Before the signing , Buffalo was left with only undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel at quarterback.
Leinart, the 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft after a storied career at USC, wrote on Twitter that he was "excited" to join the Bills.
In parts of six seasons with the Cardinals, Texans and Raiders, he has posted a 70.2 quarterback rating, completing 57.1 percent of his passes and throwing for 15 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.Last season with Oakland, he filled in for an injured Carson Palmer during a Week 16 game against the Panthers and completed 16 of 32 passes for 115 yards in his only extended action of the year.
