Indianapolis will seek a bid to host the 2018 Super Bowl, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Denver has already announced plans to seek the 2018 Super Bowl, with Dallas, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans and Tampa also speculated as potential bidders.

Indianapolis will attempt to land its second NFL championship game after receiving positive reviews as a host for Super Bowl XLVI in 2012. The city was praised for its unseasonably warm weather, close proximity of Super Bowl Week events and a downtown Super Bowl Village that attracted more than 1 million fans.

Politicians, community leaders and Colts owner Jim Irsay praised the city's resources and efforts.

“We raised the bar in Super Bowl 2012,” Gov. Mike Pence said. “We’re going to do it again.”

“This is really unprecedented because we are going after this Super Bowl on the merits of the greatness we accomplished,” Irsay said.

“We are the gold standard on how Super Bowls are run.”

The next four Super Bowls will be played in New York (2014), Arizona (2015), San Francisco (2016) and Houston (2017).
