Indianapolis Colts rookie safety John Boyett was arrested Monday on preliminary charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement after not being allowed in a bar, reports the Indianapolis Star.

Boyett, 23, is on the team's reserve/non-football injury list. He was a sixth-round draft pick for the team out of Oregon.

The paper reports Boyett suffered slight injuries to his arm and elbow when he fell while running from police officers after an incident shortly before 3 a.m.

More from the Indianapolis Star:

The incident began when an employee from Tiki Bob’s bar approached a uniformed police officer working in the 200 block of South Meridian Street at about 2:45 a.m. The worker reported a man was refusing to leave after being denied entry because he was “too intoxicated.” The report said Boyett “cussed at patrons of the bar and people on the sidewalk.”

“You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player,” Boyett repeatedly told the officers, according to the report that described his behavior as “very abusive.”

“Mr. Boyett had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person, his speech was slurred, his eyes were red and glassy, and he had a very abusive behavior toward everyone,” the report said.
