Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David not only cost his team the game when he hit New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith out of bounds late in Sunday's 18-17 loss, but it is also going to cost him in the wallet.
NFL.com reports that the league will fine David $7,875 for the hit on Smith and that the second-year player plans to appeal the fine.
Late in the fourth quarter, Smith was trying to drive the Jets into field goal range and scrambled for 10 yards before being pushed out of bounds by David.

The 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty put the ball at the Buccaneers 30 and turned a Hail Mary heave into field goal try. Jets kicker Nick Folk won the game with a 48-yard field goal with two seconds remaining.
