New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola and cornerback Aqib Talib participated in practice on Wednesday but their status for Sunday's home game vs. the Miami Dolphins remains unknown.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Amendola was in full pads at Wednesday's practice, less than two weeks after suffering a concussion in the Pats' 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints. The fact that the 27-year-old was present Wednesday means that he passed the league's concussion test, a protocol all concussed players need to adhere to before returning to the field.

Talib was seen without thigh pads, an indication perhaps that he hasn't fully recovered from a hip flexor injury that kept him out of the Pats' 30-27 loss to the New York Jets on Oct. 20.

Other notes from Wednesday's practice include the debut of defensive end Andre Carter, who is returning to the Pats as a free agent after having a Pro Bowl season with New England in 2011. Carter signed a deal with the Pats on Tuesday and figures to boost a team that saw season-ending injuries to defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and linebacker Jerod Mayo this year.

Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly said he is "day-to-day" with a knee injury, according to Howe, and Leon Washington was the only other player absent Wednesday from the Pats' practice as he continues to rehab an ankle injury.
