Despite growing optimism that he would make his Seattle Seahawks debut on Monday night, wide receiver Percy Harvin will not play against the Rams, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Saturday.

Harvin has recovered faster than expected from offseason hip surgery that has kept him out for the entire season, but it appears Seattle will be cautious with him. Carroll added that the former Pro Bowler is day-to-day and "had a very good week."

Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate and Sidney Rice have served as the team's top receivers this season.

The Seahawks still have two weeks left to decide whether to activate Harvin from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Harvin was acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for a 2013 first-round draft pick and two 2014 picks.
