Denver Broncos head coach John Fox was taken to a hospital on Saturday after a suspected heart attack, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.

Fox complained of chest pains while at a golf course in Charlotte, but the Broncos believe that the 58-year-old should be OK, according to the report.

A team spokesman later told NFL.com's Albert Breer that it's been determined that Fox did not have a heart attack, though he may need to undergo a procedure.

The team, which is currently on a bye week, released the following statement via Twitter on Saturday afternoon:

"Denver Broncos Head Coach John Fox was taken to a Charlotte-area hospital after feeling light-headed while playing golf on Saturday. He is being held at the hospital for testing and further observation. Our medical staff is currently in contact with Coach Fox, his family and the doctors who are treating him. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available."

Fox coached the Carolina Panthers for nine seasons before joining the Broncos for the past three.

Fox Sports Jay Glazer reports that Fox will miss 4 to 6 weeks after having a procedure on the damaged heart valve.
