The NFL suspended Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson for one game without pay for violating the league's safety rules, reports ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen. He will appeal the suspension.

Goldson's hit came on Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White during the Bucs' 41-28 victory on Sunday. Goldson was penalized on the play.

Goldson was suspended one game without pay in September for his hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles. The NFL said that it considered it a helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless player.

That suspension was overturned allowing Goldson to continue to play, but he was fined $100,000.  If Goldson's suspension is upheld this time, he will miss this Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Goldson has been flagged at least six times for unnecessary roughness since 2011.
