Former USC coach Lane Kiffin said the school should hire interim coach Ed Orgeron for the permanent position and says he regrets letting someone else run the offense and not being around the campus and his players more.

Kiffin appeared on Los Angeles radio station 710-AM Thursday and was asked who should be the next USC head coach.

"That's easy. That's already done. It should be Ed Orgeron," Kiffin said.

Kiffin was fired Sept. 29 after the Trojans were blown out at Arizona State.

"I want to be the head coach at USC," Orgeron said Monday. "I love being a head coach. I think that it's something I'm able to do, and do well. And I want to be the head coach at USC when I get the chance. I think I can perform on a very high basis to do what the Trojan family wants me to do."

The Trojans (8-3, 5-2 Pac-12) are 5-1 since Orgeron took over for Kiffin and are ranked in the Top 25 going into this weekend's game against Colorado.
