Longtime Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe will resign after 13 seasons, reports Brett McMurphy of ESPN.

Grobe took over the Demon Deacons' program before the 2001 season after six years at the helm of Ohio University's football team. He led Wake Forest to a 3-2 record in bowl games and one 11-win season in 2006, but he had not had a winning season since 2008 and went 2-7 in the ACC this year.

The 61-year old Grobe signed a ten-year extension with the university in '07 that would have kept him under contract through the 2016 season.
