The Yankees reportedly are close to re-signing righthander Hiroki Kuroda to a one-year deal worth about $16 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Kuroda, 38, was 11-13 with a 3.31 ERA in 201 innings last season for the Yankees. He was paid $15 million in 2013, so he could be looking at a small raise in 2014.

Kuroda reportedly entertained signing with a Southern California team to be close to family or returning to Japan. The Dodgers no longer are an option after signing free-agent closer Brian Wilson on Thursday.
