Jason Kidd: Report of losing Nets locker room was made up

Nets head coach Jason Kidd said a report that he'd lost the support of his players was made up.

A report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports cited team sources indicating fallout from the team's disappointing 9-19 start had spread to Nets players and their view of Kidd's performance as a first-year head coach.

When asked his response to the report, Kidd chalked it up to fiction.

"I just coach and get my guys ready," Kidd shrugged, flashing a smile at the podium following the team's 104-93 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. "I can't answer to what you guys make up. I'm sorry. I don't have an answer to that question."

Nets players have publicly defended an embattled Kidd.

"Jason's been talking with me and the coaching staff has been talking with me," Shaun Livingston said after putting up 20 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in the win. "It's an up-and-down season, the hardest thing to do is to stay consistent."

Deron Williams, Kevin Garnett, and Mirza Teletovic also had words of encouragement and backing for Kidd, though Garnett acknowledged that keeping a locker room together takes work. "(We're) trying to work through what Jason wants us to do. It's not easy at times, but we've been trying to be consistent with listening and being positive."

A slew of lopsided losses and Kidd's inexperience have been magnified by owner Mikhail Prokhorov increasing the Nets' payroll to $189 million with the addition of former NBA champions Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, plus All-Stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.

On Monday, Kidd, blasted his players following a 103-86 blowout at the hands of the Pacers.

"It's getting very close to just accepting losing," Kidd said. "We're kind of getting comfortable with losing. We've got to make a stand with that because when things get tough, do we just give in?
