The Braves have signed right fielder Jason Heyward to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the deal is worth $13.3 million over the two seasons.

The new contract lets the Braves avoid an arbitration hearing after Heyward requested $5.5 million and the Braves countered with $5.2 million.

Heyward, 24, batted .254 with 14 home runs and 38 RBI in 104 games for the Braves in 2013 and needed surgery to repair a fractured jaw after being hit by a pitch in August. He won a Gold Glove in 2012 and made an All-Star appearance in 2010.
