The University of Cincinnati is expected to announce Mike Bohn as its new athletic director on Thursday, Tom Groeschen and Bill Koch of Cincinnati.com report.

Bohn, 53, will replace Whit Babcock, who resigned last month to take the athletic director's position at Virginia Tech.

Bohn was the athletic director at Colorado for eight years before resigning last May when the school told him they were going to replace him. Though Colorado said they would offer him a new job within the university, he still left Boulder. Bohn helped Colorado transition from the Big 12 Conference to the Pac-12 in 2010.

Bohn will take over a UC athletic program that is in the midst of an $86-million Nippert Stadium renovation and is trying to find a more suitable home for its Top 10 basketball program, either in a new arena, a renovated Fifth Third Arena or by moving downtown to U.S. Bank Arena.
