Kansas center Joel Embiid will sit out the team's final two regular season games due to a back injury, head coach Bill Self said Monday.

Embiid will miss the Jayhawks' games against Texas Tech on Wednesday and at West Virginia on Saturday after re-injuring his back in a 72-65 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday.

"I think he's OK for long term, don't get me wrong on that. But I'm not really sure on how long or if we're going to need to rest him," Self said via Topeka Capital Journal. "It's a similar thing as before, lower back strain basically. He certainly benefited from the five days before that we gave him off, but still obviously it's not close to being 100 percent because he reaggravated it in the Oklahoma State game."

Embiid has had issues with his back since earlier this season. He missed the Jayhawks' victory over TCU on Feb. 15, then played 32 minutes in their next game, a win over Texas.

He is averaging 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks for the eighth-ranked Jayhawks (22-7).
