The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly close to signing former New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana to a minor league deal, according to Orioles.com's Brittany Ghiroli.

Santana missed all of 2011 and 2013 with shoulder injuries and was largely ineffective in his 2012 campaign with the Mets, finishing with an 8.27 ERA in his final 10 starts that season, according to Matt Snyder of CBSSports.com.

Santana is still in the midst of rehabbing from his most recent shoulder surgery and reportedly was only able to throw in the high 70s in a workout last week, but Baltimore is hopeful that he will have regained enough of his old form to make an impact by midsummer.
