The University of Texas remains the leader in USC quarterback transfer Max Wittek's search for a new program, according to Scott Wolf of insidesocal.com.

Wolf reports Wittek is no longer considering TCU after the Horned Frogs wanted an immediate decision rather than waiting until the 20-year-old's May deadline.

Hawaii reportedly remains in contention after Wittek visited the islands over the weekend. He was also linked to having early interest in Louisville and Ohio State.

Wittek reportedly believes he can start at Texas where new head coach Charlie Strong has junior starter David Ash returning after missing most of 2013 with concussion-related symptoms. Ash has been cleared to participate in spring practices.

Wittek is scheduled to graduate this spring, making him immediately eligible to play at a new school. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after backing up Cody Kessler for much of the Trojans' 2013 season. Wittek completed 50-of-95 passes for 600 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions in his USC career.

The ex-Trojan was rated a four-star prospect in 2011 by Rivals.com.
