The NBA suspended Milwaukee Bucks guard O.J. Mayo Saturday for one game for punching New Orleans Pelicans center Greg Stiemsma in the throat during Friday's game.

Mayo was ejected in the first quarter of the Bucks' loss to the Pelicans, a game in which Milwaukee was already missing forward Ersan Ilyasova due to a different suspension. Mayo's suspension will cover Saturday night's game against the Washington Wizards. On the season, Mayo, an offseason acquisition, is averaging 11.8 points and 2.2 assists per game on a career-worst 40.2 shooting percentage. The Bucks, at 12-49, have the league's worst record.
