Cleveland Indians designated hitter Jason Giambi will miss the next three to four weeks after being diagnosed with a non-displaced rib fracture, the team announced Thursday.

Giambi, 43, suffered the injury on March 7 when he was struck by a fastball thrown by Chicago Cubs pitcher Edwin Jackson.

The team re-signed him to a non-roster, minor league contract in October and he wants to play this season, which will be his 20th in the majors and the second with Cleveland.

Last season, Giambi hit .183 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 186 at-bats.
