Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was arrested Monday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report in the Tuscaloosa News.
Dareus, 24, was arrested and released within an hour.
Authorities say that Dareus was originally stopped for speeding by an Alabama State Trooper at 8:30 p.m.
"All we know right now is what we have seen in media reports and we will continue to look into this," Bills senior vice president of communications Scott Berchtold told the Tuscaloosa News.
Dareus, who made his first Pro Bowl after recording 71 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season, was selected third overall in the 2011 NFL draft and is in his fourth season with the Bills. The Bills exercised the fifth-year option on his contract last month.
