Browns CB Joe Haden signs new contract through 2019
Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden will remain with the team at least through the 2019 season, as the 2013 Pro Bowler signed a deal that will keep with the team for another five years, the team announced Tuesday.
According to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com, the contract guarantees Haden $22 million upon signing, a $14 million signing bonus and another $23 million guaranteed for injury.
Between those three components of the deal, Haden's contract exceeds the four-year, $57.4 million extension that Richard Sherman signed last week with the Seattle Seahawks.
"This is a great day for both Joe Haden and the Cleveland Browns,” general manager Ray Farmer said. “Joe’s a good, young player who’s made a commitment to our organization, and he’s somebody with whom we want to move forward in order to advance our football team. He’s a great person. He’s the right guy to both build with and build around as we attempt to become an elite football team.”
Through last season, Haden had a career 234 tackles, two sacks, 13 interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Last season, Haden registered 54 tackles and four interceptions, earning AP second-team All-Pro honors and his first Pro Bowl selection.KING: How Browns landed Manziel pick
