The Sun Belt Conference has been in discussions with the University of Massachusetts about adding the school as a 12th member to the league, reports CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler.
UMass, currently in the Mid-American Conference, plans to leave the conference in 2015.
According to the report, the Sun Belt has sought to fill a slot by June 1 and has had discussions with several FCS-level schools, including Liberty.
The conference loses Western Kentucky to Conference USA on July 1 but has added Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Idaho and New Mexico State for the 2014-15 season. The other members of the conference are Texas State, Georgia State, South Alabama, Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy, Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.
