The Los Angeles Lakers will interview Alvin Gentry as part of their search for a new head coach, according to the Los Angeles Times' Broderick Turner.

Gentry spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers, after being let go by the Phoenix Suns the previous season after five years as their head coach.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss are expected to interview Gentry on Wednesday. The coaching veteran has already met with the Utah Jazz, and is scheduled to speak with Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin on Friday.

Los Angeles' front office has focused on seasoned head coaches in their search so far, interviewing Byron Scott and Mike Dunleavy Sr. and reportedly showing interest in former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins.
