Report: Indians 2B Jason Kipnis likely to return Wednesday vs. White Sox

Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis will likely return from a month-long stint on the DL on Wednesday, according to a report from Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. 

The 27-year-old, who got his first All-Star nod last year, was put on the DL at the beginning of May because of a right oblique strain. He suffered the injury while swinging on April 29 against the Angels. He was to play one more rehab game on Monday before being activated, according to Hoynes, citing manager Terry Francona:

"Kip will get here Tuesday. He's not going to start. We could activate him depending on how he feels. He will start Wednesday, barring anything unforeseen. He really wanted to play today. So he's raring to go."

Kipnis is a career .268 hitter with 41 homers and 191 RBI.

The Indians are last in the AL Central with a 24-27 record.
