Report: White Sox 1B Jose Abreu to be activated before Monday's game vs. Dodgers

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will be activated from the disabled list before Monday's series opener in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, according to a tweet on Sunday from Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

The rookie has been on the DL for approximately two weeks due to "posterior tibia tendinitis” in his left ankle. In mid-May, an MRI on his ankle showed just inflammation and no structural damage and he's been seen at times wearing a walking boot.

In his first season, he's got a .908 OPS, 15 home runs, and 42 RBI. In April, he was named AL Rookie of the Month and AL Player of the Month and will likely remain in contention for the 2014 AL Rookie of the Year award,  along with the Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka and the Astros George Springer.

Chicago is 28-29, behind only the Tigers (31-21) for the top spot in the AL Central.
