Mike Trout and the Angels received good news concerning back pains that have all but sidelined him since Saturday. On Wednesday, an MRI on Trout's back revealed inflammation but no damage.

From Alden Gonzalez of mlblogs.com:

Said Trout: “It’s definitely good news.”

Trout was out of the lineup on Wednesday and said he’s “not going to do much today, probably just go throw and see if I can hit in the cage.”

“I’ll see how I feel tomorrow,” Trout said. “Maybe I’ll go tomorrow.”

The Angels and Trout appear ready to make his status day-by-day rather than opt for the disabled list.

“If I don’t feel it at all, I’ll play,” Trout said. “I just have to be smart about it.

“It was bothering me yesterday during the game, and I was pretty happy I woke up and it wasn’t worse. That’s always a good thing.”

Trout's back woes forced the Angels to scratch him from their lineup on Saturday and Sunday. After a day off Monday, he started the Angels' game on Tuesday only to be removed after the first inning.
