Colorado Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is headed to the disabled list with a lingering finger injury that he re-injured in the team's 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Gonzalez, who has also been dealing with left knee tendinitis, left after the fifth inning of the game when his left index finger swelled up. Gonzalez first noticed swelling in the finger after fouling off a pitch during an at-bat on May 1, causing him to miss one start.

"I really don’t know what to do now at this point," Gonzalez said, via the Denver Post. "It’s frustrating. This is the third time. I try to stay in there, but it gets to the point where I can’t grip a bat. It gets so big, I can’t fit into a batting glove."

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said the team would evaluate Gonzalez and determine the best course of action.

"We'll check in with him [Wednesday]," Weiss said. "We're at a point now that we'll have to make a decision to see what's best for him and our club.

"It's bugging him whether he makes contact or misses. I think it's worse when he makes contact."

Gonzalez is hitting .255 with eight home runs and 31 RBI this season, though he is only two for his last 14 at the plate.
