Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on team's performance: 'We're just not that good'

The Los Angeles Dodgers have MLB's highest payroll at $239 million and that hasn't exactly translated into wins this season.

The team's struggles have prompted Dodgers manager Don Mattingly to talk about the team's inconsistency. The manager also questioned the motivation of some players on the team.

After a 2-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, the Dodgers sit at 31-30 and are eight games behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. They are 13-19 at Dodger Stadium and have not won more than three games in a row all season.

"Basically, we're ... ," Mattingly said, via the Los Angeles Times. "We're just not that good. Home, away, whatever. I don't know what that has to do with it."

Mattingly said his players should be accountable for their play on the field.

"I really think you should talk to them," Mattingly said. "I'm tired of answering the questions, honestly. It's the thing we talk about when guys start throwing all the numbers out, all these things ... One thing you can't measure is that feeling you have as a team when everybody's playing together and everybody's going in one direction."
