In what may have been a surprise to the Seahawks on Tuesday, running back Marshawn Lynch reported to the team's mandatory minicamp according to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport, a week after reports that Seattle was not expecting Beast Mode because of his supposed frustration over his contract and that he may be retiring.

He is entering the third year of a four-year deal worth $31 million, which pays him $5 million this season and $5.5 million in 2015. He was a no-show for voluntary OTAs earlier in June and remains set on reworking the deal, according to reports.

It’s not clear whether the contract is the only reason the 28-year-old is reportedly unhappy, but Lynch had reportedly been mulling retirement as recently as last week. Rapoport said his "retirement thought is real,” and quoted a source close to the situation as saying, “I could see him walking away.”

Lynch finished Seattle’s Super Bowl season this year with 1,257 yards — his third consecutive 1,000-yard season and second highest season total. He also had a career-high 14 total touchdowns.
