Former Kansas City Wizards midfielder Carlos Marinelli has signed a one-year deal with Colombian giants Millonarios, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Bogota-based club.

The Argentine's deal with the Colombian team is for one year, with the option to extend his stay for an additional six months.

Marinelli was waived by the Wizards last month after two mixed seasons in MLS. He has also spent time in Europe with Middlesbrough and Torino over his nine-year career, which began at Boca Juniors in 2000. Since then, Marinelli has found limited success at various different clubs around the world.

The 26-year-old is Millonarios' first reinforcement looking ahead to next year, and much is expected of the Argentine, as the club intends to build a side capable of winning the Colombian Championship. Millonarios was eliminated from the semifinals of the Torneo Finalizacion.

Marinelli will arrive in Bogota on Sunday and will begin training with his new teammates on Dec. 15.
