With star marksman Taylor Twellman injured, the New England Revolution have announced the signing of Cameroonian forward Stephane Assengue Ombiogno.

"Stephane is a young forward who we believe has potential to make a great impact on the Revolution," said New England vice president Michael Burns in a statement. "We're looking forward to his arrival after he obtains his visa and helping him acclimate to MLS."

The 19-year-old forward joins the Revolution from Daga Young Star, a regional club in the western part of Cameroon, his native country. The player has signed a contract with the MLS club, but has yet to receive his P1 work visa.

According to the Boston Herald, Ombiogno is the first of two African players to join the New England side with the second being a more experienced central defender. The players were found by Steve Nicol and his scouting department on a trip to Ghana earlier this year.

The Revolution's next match is Saturday against the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
