Mexico has released its preliminary roster for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup. From the list of 30 players, seven will not make the final list.

El Tri will begin its Gold Cup participation on July 5 against Nicaragua in Oakland, Calif. Mexico will try to claim its fifth Gold Cup title and first since 2003. Manager Javier Aguirre led Mexico into the 2002 Gold Cup but lost to South Korea in the quarterfinals.

Defenders: Paul Aguilar (Pachuca), Efrain Juarez (Pumas), Jose Antonio Castro (Tigres), Edgar Dueñas (Toluca), Jonny Magallon (Chivas), Juan Carlos Valenzuela (America), Ismael Rodriguez (America), Hugo Ayala (Atlas), Oscar Rojas (America), Fausto Pinto (Cruz Azul).
