With its sights set on South Africa, Mexico now has the task of trying to line up possible friendlies against fellow World Cup nations.

Tricolor officials told Mexican daily Reforma that England and the Netherlands are possible friendly opponents ahead of next summer.

Mexico played the Netherlands in Eindhoven in the run-up to the 2006 World Cup. Meanwhile, El Tri last played England in Derby in 2001, ahead of the Confederations Cup. Mexico lost both games, 2-1 to the Netherlands and 4-0 to England.

National-teams president Nestor de la Torre did not say if or when the possible friendlies would be finalized.

"Just as these plans present themselves, once they become official we'll announce them," de la Torre said. --Goal.com
