FC Dallas' Brian Leyva will represent Mexico in the upcoming Under-17 World Cup.

A native of Chihuahua, Mexico, Leyva began training with the national team since he joined the MLS outfit in September. Leyva was signed from the club's youth development system and subsequently earned his first call-up to the U-17 national team.

"Everyone at FC Dallas was excited to hear the news that Bryan was selected for the Mexican Youth National Team," FC Dallas general manager Michael Hitchcock said in a statement. "We're very proud of Bryan for making it to the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. We know Bryan will be a great representative of FC Dallas on this international stage."

Leyva, 17, came to the United States in 2000 at the age of 8.

Mexico will participate in the U-17 World Cup against Switzerland, Brazil and Japan. The tournament starts on Oct. 24. --Goal.com
