U.S. international Cherundolo named captain of Hannover

U.S. international fullback Steve Cherundolo has been named as the new captain of Bundesliga club Hannover. Cherundolo takes over the armband from Hanno Ballitsch who joined Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer.

Cherundolo, who recently signed a new three-year contract, is currently Hannover's longest-serving player after arriving in 1999.

Christian Schulz and Karim Haggui were named as vice captains.
