ISTANBUL (Reuters) -- German Bernd Schuster resigned as Besiktas coach on Tuesday, Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported.

The Istanbul club, who was not immediately available for comment, has won just one of their last seven games and fallen to seventh place in the league, 21 points adrift of league leaders Fenerbahce.

The former Real Madrid coach joined Besiktas last June on a two-year contract worth 2.6 million euro a year.
