NYON, Switzerland (AP) -- UEFA has suspended Manchester City assistant coach David Platt for two European competition matches for "improper conduct'' during a Champions League game against Real Madrid.

UEFA says Platt cannot work at Man City's final group match away to Borussia Dortmund next Tuesday, and the next European match at which he is eligible. City can only qualify for the Europa League this season.

Platt was sent from the dugout by Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi during Man City's 1-1 draw with Madrid last Wednesday that eliminated the English champion.

UEFA also fined City $15,500 after five players were shown yellow cards.

Platt and City have three days within which to appeal.
