Toronto FC has signed Brazilian midfielder and defender Julio Cesar.

The 34-year-old spent the last two seasons with Sporting Kansas City, then was waived in November. He played 27 games for Kansas City in each of the last two seasons.

Kansas City allowed 27 goals last season, the fewest in Major League Soccer. Toronto gave up a league-high 62.
