Wycombe's Jordan Archer is attacked by a Gillingham supporter during the game.

A teenage fan has been charged after a goalkeeper was attacked in the closing stages of a match in the fourth tier of English football.

In Monday's game at Gillingham, Wycombe goalkeeper Jordan Archer was about to take a goal kick in stoppage time when the supporter entered the field and leapt toward him.

He was quickly apprehended by a steward and led away.

Police in Kent, southern England announced Wednesday that the 17-year-old fan was charged with common assault, and had been released on police bail.

Wycombe took the lead in the 85th minute to secure a 1-0 win at Gillingham.

This season, Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was attacked during a second-tier game by a Leeds fan, who was sentenced to jail for four months.
