SEVILLE, Spain (AP) -- Sevilla says it has agreed to sell striker Alvaro Negredo to Manchester City, pending a medical checkup.
There was no announcement of a transfer fee or length of contract, but Sevilla says "it's official: Alvaro Negredo is now a Manchester City player.''
The Andalucian club held a farewell ceremony for the 27-year-old Negredo at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Wednesday evening.
At the ceremony, Negredo said he has spent four happy years at Sevilla but was fortunate to get an offer from "a big one, like City, and I'm happy to go to such a big team.''
The Spanish international joined Sevilla from Almeria in 2009, winning the Copa del Rey that season. He scored 70 goals in 139 appearances.
