BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Barcelona says director of football operations Andoni Zubizarreta has agreed to a two-year contract extension that ties the former player to the Catalan club until 2016.

Zubizarreta, a former goalkeeper for the Spanish champions, has been in charge of player personnel since the arrival of president Sandro Rosell in 2010.

Barcelona has won a pair of Spanish league titles and a Champions League trophy under Zubizarreta, who has signed players such as Cesc Fabregas, Neymar, Alexis Sanchez, and Alex Song.

The defending champions lead the league standings by one point ahead of Atletico Madrid after 12 rounds.
