TURIN, Italy (AP) - Juventus says its Chile international midfielder Arturo Vidal will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday, just five weeks before his country's first match at the World Cup.

Vidal visited specialist Professor Ramon Cugat in Barcelona on Tuesday, accompanied by doctors from Chile's national team as well as those from Juventus.

Juventus - which clinched the Italian league title at the weekend - later released a brief statement, saying Vidal will ''undergo arthroscopic surgery on the lateral meniscus of his right knee.''

No estimated recovery time was announced.

Chile plays its first match of the tournament on June 13, against Australia. It also faces reigning world and European champions Spain, as well as the Netherlands in Group B.
